Is it possible to use NIC with Broadcom BCM5719 chipset?
-
Hello,
I have a NIC with 4x 1GB ports using Broadcom BCM5719 (HP 331T) adapter. On initial install, it is not detected. Is there anything I can do to get it to detect, or is it just not compatible with pfSense? Thanks.

Hi,
Check the FreeBSD 11.3 hardware compatibility list.
The build in driver 'bge' should support it : https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=bge&apropos=0&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+11.3-RELEASE&arch=default&format=html
bge
11.3 is used by pfSense 2.4.5-p1.What do you see during boot (the dmesg output) ?

Now you have something to Google ^^
"Bx57198; PCI-X ge: firmware handshake timed out" is probably bad news.
