SFP+ interfaces not showing in pfsense
-
I run pfsense on an old R710 server and it works perfectly using the onboard NIC. I recently purchased a SolarFlare SFN6122F SFP+ NIC off of eBay that has an sfc9020 controller, which is on the supported devices list for pfsense using the sfxge(4) driver. as far as I know, that driver should be preinstalled along with the other drivers on the list. I power on server, it posts, and the NIC boots it's bios with no errors on screen. PfSense boots, no errors as well. After running a few commands which I can't remember off the top of my head, The NIC shows as a PCIe device and a NIC device in the shell. This tells me that FreeBSD sees the NIC and knows what it is. The issue is, the two interfaces don't show up in PfSense, neither in the WebGUI or SSH config screen with the numbered menu. was there something I had to do to complete the install of the new NIC?
Thanks,

If the NICs appear in the output of
pciconf -lv
and are listed with a driver attached, sfxge0 and sgxge1, then they shoudl be available.
It sounds like you may have simply not assigned them yet from Interfaces > Assignments.https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/interfaces/configure.html#interface-configuration
