Help! SG-3100 Fast blinking blue (circle) light on reboot - Not booting
-
I am seeing that my sg-3100 is stuck on reboot at the blue lights (circle) flashing in a fast mode. None of the other lights flashed either.
This is a working device that has caused issue on reboot. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Wanted to add - I had snort running on it and everything is on the latest version. The device was operating as a firewall, dhcp, dns, ips device on a home network behind the cable modem.
Appreciate any help on what I could do to identify the issue and/or fix?

First things first, you will need to connect to the console and see what it's printing there when it tries to boot.

thanks for the response.
please see attached.
cant get to boot -s to be able to run fsck

That looks like it may be a hardware issue, but you might want to at least try reinstalling first. Your best bet is to contact support via https://go.netgate.com and they can get you an installer image, and they can help you out if you give them that console output as well.

So here is what I did:
Connected via serial
Interrupted boot
Dropped into single user shell (boot -s)
Ran fsck on media and fixed any issues
Reboot twice
Restored config
Reinstalled any missing packages
Back to normal...Thankfully not a hardware issue at the moment... Fingers crossed!
Hope this helps someone.
Netgate should really get a fix for those device lights!!!

If that fsck does not work then please download image and reinstall pfsense.

Like the LEDs are too bright?
Seems like they worked as intended. The fast flash let you know it had not booted correctly. What would you rather see?

Thanks for the check in.
I couldn’t find that issue about quick blue flashing lights as a specific boot issue when I had the incident. I googled away but I may have missed it in the documentation.
For starters something likes this guide https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk123865&t=1613789835245
To be able to clearly identify an issue from the lights in the front panel.
Being able to control whether the lights can show and of course their brightness (maybe a timer too) please.
