I put this here as I do not think it's a pfsense issue.

      I have these devices
      pfsense rtr/gateway at 10.0.0.1/255.255.248.0
      NAS1 at 10.0.0.10/255.255.248.0 gw 10.0.0.1 (no ip6)
      NAS2 at 10.0.0.11/255.255.248.0 gw 10.0.0.1 (no ip6)
PC1 with wifi NIC 10.0.2.15/255.255.248.0 gw 10.0.0.1 or with USB NIC 10.0.7.216/255.255.248.0 gw 10.0.0.1
      PC2 with wired NIC1 at 10.0.2.1/255.255.248.0 gw 10.0.0.1 and wired nic2 at 10.0.7.212/255.255.248.0 gw 10.0.0.1

from PC1 using wifi NIC I can ping the gateway and both NAS
Insert USB NIC, and then I can only ping the gateway and the nas1. If I try and ping nas2 I get gateway unreachable.
Try another USB NIC and its the same thing, It can't ping nas2.

From PC2 it is the same behaviour. From the wired nic1, I can ping gateway and nas1 but not nas2

DHCP for everything is my pfsense 2.5RC
I have reservations for everything other than the devices I am having an issue with in the 10.0.7.200 - 10.0.7.249 pool.

It seems that devices in my DCHP range all fail to be able to ping NAS2

One thing that I noticed is that using the "working" NIC, the pings populate the arp cache as expected. when I swap to the "bad" nic the arp entry for NAS2 disappears after I try a failed ping.

I couldn't find the source for this issue, so I do what I always do in this type of "I have no clue" situation, I simplify. I removed all my switches except one, removed all non-related items and appliances, reset my configs where I could. then add stuff back. The problem has not reappeared, and I have about 75% of my items back integrated.
I suspect it is either a unifi bug or my fing appliance.
