I tried to install the nano package on pfSense 2.4.5p1. I got a message that "pkg" needs to be updated first, and after that I got a message that some .so library was missing. This may be related to the pfSense 2.5.0 update being released now. I do not want to update yet. Can someone tell me how to install nano on 2.4.5 without running into the above issue?

      Thank you.

This is solved. Had to set updates to the 2.4.5 now DEPRECATED branch and use pkg-static.

            Sure...

Step 1: Go to System -> Update and select "Previous stable branch (2.4.5 DEPRECATED)

Step 2: At the command line (ssh or console) to install, e.g., nano use

            pkg-static install nano
