      How to get around this (see image below). I am doing a clean install of pfSense 2.5 on raid mirror, and as soon as, I select both drives to destroy and wipe to instal pfSense, sysctl post the message.

        @nollipfsense Are you presenting the mirror as the target for ZFS?

        ZFS is best installed directly against the physical devices. You can configure ZFS to use the two drives as a mirror, but ZFS wants to manage that itself.

        I don't know that that is the cause of the issue, but it certainly could be.

          @nollipfsense I have been reading this:https://www.unix.com/man-page/FreeBSD/8/GPART/

          The machine is a Lenovo SFF M92P with 20GB RAM belonging to a friend. It claimed it install pfSense then reboot and no OS found. I think I'll just install via UFS on one drive and call it a day for now.

            @traveller Raid mirror, yes using the auto ZFS. I tried the different partition settings, example GPT + Lenovo fix or GPT Bios ... nothing works. Somehow it doesn't create the boot partition so cannot boot ... more research.

              @nollipfsense Sorry to hear that. I only have a single device in my firewall, so I cannot investigate this myself.

                The golden rule: don't administer or install pfSense for friends (no pay) ... it could take more time than one first imagined. That's said, I got it working, wipe off sweat, just don't ask me how. One problem is the UEFI mode on a machine designed for Windows. I noticed when booting up, it seems to get stuck in synchronizing users making three tries before completing the boot process but doing so only in Legacy mode ... just glad it's over!
