I disabled LAN on SG1100 and everything stopped working
I finished configuring my VLANS coming through the wireless AP on my LAN port, so I disabled the original LAN interface (unchecked the checkbox to enable in the web GUI). I thought it was just another VLAN (like the ones I had been setting up), but everything stopped working—even the OPT port. I can't communicate to the device at all now.
Is this something I can fix or do I need to do a factory reset? If there is some way to fix this through the UART terminal, what command would I use?
Your going to have to do a factory reset. You have to have the LAN interface assigned to some physical interface or your going to always lose access to the device.
This is unless you allow access via the WAN interface but I’d never suggest this as it’s a massive security risk.
Does it have a serial port? You could use that to get access.
I was able to connect the USB cable and use putty. The SG1100 has an integrated USB-serial IC so I didn't need a serial cable. The interface was pretty slick, all I had to do was choose a backup to restore and I was done.
You've just demonstrated the value of backups. It's easy to do. Whenever you make a change, backup. When the computer I had been running pfsense on died recently, it was easy to get my new computer configured the way the old one was.
It's nice that it has the USB port. Mine has a 9 pin DE9 connector, so I have to use my USB/serial adapter and also a gender bender.
Now you done it.
You forced me to do an archaeological dig through my "Junque" box to find a 9 pin - 9 pin null modem cable, so I could try it with my firewall.
BTW, it works.
