Hi guys I am a noob at networking and really need help.

I recently installed PFSense in a PC and I have followed the right way to install it and everything works fine, except that I can't ping anything outside my router and PFSense. I tried pinging google.com but to no avail. How can I make my PFSense ping outside or give internet to my switch? really sorry for this noob question.

The default LAN rules should allow from LAN to any. Can you ping an IP address, e.g. 8.8.8.8? Can you ping from pfSense (diagnostics menu).

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.

The inability to ping an IP sounds like a connection issue not a DNS issue. If pfSense can't ping that implies an ISP issue. Can you traceroute out to an IP from the diagnostics menu to see how far you get?
