So, following this forum would suggest 21.02 is less than an outright success. I know - it’s a forum so we only see posts from people actually experiencing trouble but still..

SG-3100 seems to be more or less “not working” if at times it comes under moderate load.
IPsec seems to be a mess and “hit n’ miss” if it works or not after an upgrade. OpenVPN likewise.
Lots of other upgrades failed and left devices with a need to either revert til 2.4.5_p1 or reinstall from scratch.

I’m affraid to start the upgrade here as I have several boxes doing mission critical VPN and Internet Access.

What is the general consensus @ Netgate? Does 21.02 cause more problematic upgrades than expected (aside from sg-3100), and are there more “critical” issues with non working features than expected?

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

        That was fixed in 21.02p1.

If you have working/critical equipment, then why push ahead? There is no harm in waiting for a p2. We have many Netgate routers at clients, and I've only updated mine at home and one other at our office. No observed issues so far except on the one with IPv6 the IPv6 gateway shows as pending, though IPv6 is working fine for me.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@teamits I have decided to stay at 2.4.5_p1 for now, but I would love to experiment with wireguard, so there is a great incentive to use 21.02😄

@keyser I would stay on 2.4.5_p1 until a later release. I wish I read that before I updated. After two days I am running on 21.02p1 but the setup is as basic as it gets. I tried restore and manual setup and each time reached a point I had to start over again to get service. I'm not one to complain but this was the one update that makes me want to look around for other options.
