      I have a pfsense box and a Cisco pix firewall. Instead of having pfsense fail over to another nic, can it fail over to another device?

        Can you rephrase that?

        pfSense doesnt actually failover to another interface.
        It failovers to another gateway.

            Well the functionality is already there.
            In earlier version it was possible to enter the gateways directly by hand.
            Although this confused some people and it was changed so you can only selcet interfaces directly.
            But it still works if you do it the "old way".
