      Hi all,
I am new to the netgate device and pfsense. I am still on setting it up and testing it.

I notice that I am not getting the full ISP speed from the netgate device. I would like to know the reason for it.
I have a 1G Bell fibre service with a promise of max speed of 940M download and 750M upload.

I had an identical testing condition to compare the result. The only difference was swapping between a Bell modem and a netgate SG5100.

The testing was done at the Bell modem LAN port and Netgate LAN igb1 port, with speedtest with ookla, same speedtest server, same cable, laptop and browser.

The result with Bell modem as follow:
      Ping UP Down
      1ms 932 692
      1ms 933 624
      1ms 937 662

      Result with Netgate
      1ms 725 620
      1ms 757 575
      1ms 740 679

It is PPPoE connection with WAN VLAN.
      SG5100 version 21.02 releas p1

The LAN side has VLAN as well.

Did I config something not quite correctly on netgate?

      Best Regards

        Hi,

Is there anyone can suggest a solution why I am not getting a full internet speed from SG-5100?

        Identical testing connection.

        1. Laptop connect at the LAN port of SG-5100. Only one device.

        2. Laptop connect at 1 of 4 LAN port of the ISP modem. 1 device only

Just swapping the WAN cable between 2 unit for testing.

Using same speedtest with ookla with same server.

        Best Regards

@patian i know there are limitations with PPPoE due to the way it is implemented in FreeBSD. It's been discussed a number of times on the forum. I don't know, however, how much it would impact a 5100. Let's hope someone smarter can give you an idea on that front. I'll be watching as well.

            Hi @gabacho4

            Thank you for your reply.
I thought I did something not right in the setting or configuration.

Anyway, if it is due to the FreeBSD, there isn't much can be done.

Paying for 1G connection and not getting it, i am disappointed.
