WAN traffic blocked? & Saving changes in webUI is very very slow
-
As of about 11:16 PM last night, I lost WAN connectivity. When I began troubleshooting this morning, I noticed that the WAN interface had both IPv4 and IPv6 leases but the gateways were showing 100% packet loss.
No improvement after reboots of cable modem and router.
Laptop had full Internet connectivity when connected directly to cable modem after a 2nd modem reboot to clear the lock on the router’s MAC address. Fairly confident the Comcast service is working, though not sure if something changed causing problems with pfSense config...Disabling gateway monitoring didn’t change anything.
LAN hosts can’t ping any external IPs
PfSense can’t ping any external IPs either. While continuing to troubleshoot this, saving any change in the pfSense webUI seems to hang for a minute or two before refreshing the view.
Why is the WebUI hanging on saves so badly?
What’s do I need to check? What are the recommended troubleshooting steps to figure out why the IPv4 and v6 gateways think they’re borked and get traffic flowing again?
Where do I start? -
Update: I noticed that many of the logs were not updating and there were 8 zombie processes shortly after a fresh reboot.
Decided to nuke the logs and reboot:
find /var/log -type f -exec rm -f {} ; && rebootGateways came back up after the reboot, then went back down.
WTH?Also still a very odd lag on UI when saving changes.
