eth + pppoe or eth + eth Qotom J1900 performance
-
I have a Qotom J1900 4x LAN.
WAN1 = 120Mg Cable (wifi/modem is configured as modem and is eth mtu 1500)
WAN2 = 100Mg Fibrethe fibre connection has two possibilities;
a) pppoe.vlan mtu 1492 connection to termination
b) eth mtu 1500 to fritzbox which has pppoe connection to provider.If I understand properly, pppoe is not a desirable connection type because of being limited to a single core. If that is true, am i better off using b) for the connection to the J1900?
I originally thought, cutting out a redundant device would be the more beneficial thing to do

@gwaitsi after further reading, it seems the pfsense device would gain by having all nics with either network and using the isp provided fritz box as a switch in between.
They have configured one of the switch ports as a pppoe wan connection. and the other 3 ports to the lan side. So I am also left with a bypass option.
I have more of a performance drop from the J1900 than from the fritzbox which in any case.
