Multiple IPv6 addresses needed on one interface. A needed configuration.
For a smooth migration from one IPv6 network to another, I need to have multiple IPv6 networks on a single interface. (So far as I have understand the Std of IPv6 an allowed and wanted feature in IPv6)
Having multiple address still happens on interfaces in pfsense; on one hand we have these link-locals (fe80::) and for example a static or a DHCP. So it is possible, but not really configurable.
For migration purposes, IPv6 is designed this way, to have multiple addresses on one Interface. Or how should a company migrate, if they changes their ISP. (By the way, I migrated this way more than one company a couple of times with bigger productive networks to a new ISP.)
Yes, for some other scenarios you may can use different VLANs for communications only related in a routing way for your multi-area located company, but with no Internet-access (fc00, fd80, fe00, ...).
But this not really needed all the time any more.
Be aware of, do not handle IPv6 with the same knowledge based on IPv4 we have.
The freebsd std config file (/etc/rc.conf) seems not to be used in pfsense.
If there is no offical way of doing this, I will try to edit the pfsense configuration file. But I am not sure what happens to my DHCPv6 settings on this VLAN. For me it looks like that pfsense will use the static configured IPv6-prefix (the first in the config?) for setting up the prefix scope part in DHCP. (This will take some time to setup a lab for testing this, ... .. .)
Maybe this is a hint why only one IPv6 address is possible for one interface. In my opinion this is not the best situation only having one IPv6 on a interface for a productive usage of pfsense. ISP migration will happen more than once in a live time of a company.

You can add prefixes on the Router Advertisement page, but if you do that you will also have manually add the original prefix, as for some reason it's no longer automatically added.
