      Hi,
I have a vm with pfsense 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 (amd64) and in Package Manager -> Available Packages the list is empty, if I try to search for any package I can't find it.
The dns resolution is ok, what else can i check?
      Thanks.

        The official manual / guidelines ?! => Docs » pfSense® software » Troubleshooting.

Btw : Never ever upgrade packages wheh using an older pfSense.
First upgrade (at least - if possible) to 2.4.5-p1 or netter 2.5.0 and then (only then !) think about packages.
Packages are always 'valid' for the latest version of pfSense.

        Example : Read : https://www.netgate.com/blog/pfsense-2-4-5-release-p1-now-available.html

        You'll find :

        3f9b712c-a051-480a-b376-9084b5479c96-image.png

Which means : in theory, when you persist in using an older version :
        Do not upgrade them ...
        ( Remove packages. )

Hi, currently i only installed the package:
          ftp_client_proxy 0.0_3

I need to remove first the ftp_client_proxy package and then upgrade pfsense to version 2.4.5

          it's correct ?
          Thanks.

            Yep.

Leave the FTP_Client_Proxy as is. It will get upgrade to 0.3_5.

@gertjan ok, so I don't remove the ftp_client_proxy package beforehand.

Tonight I'll update pfsense to version 4.5 and check the problem about list package.
              Thanks.

I tried upgrade to 2.5 but after 10 hours of waiting nothing happens and there is only the writing:
Please wait while the update system initializes

                  Probably because :

                  You can't - because pfSense can't.

This covers 99,9 % of all the solution : https://www.netgate.com/blog/pfsense-2-4-5-release-p1-now-available.html

                      Or directly to 2.5.0.

@gertjan as written in the previous post yesterday I tried to update to 2.5 but after many hours the update is not done and only the writing remains:
Please wait while the update system initializes

                          Wait ....
                          It's a vm.

Crate another vm - use a clean 2.5.0 install media - done ;)

Be careful while importing your config.
pfSense not being able to connect to the net and check for updates or package updates means something is wrong.

As you will see, with everything default, this will work.

@gertjan I copied the vm called pfsense2 but on this pfsense, when I try to update the pfsense version, pfsense doesn't see an updated version (neither 2.4.5_1 nor 2.5).

Great : you copied the system.
And the copy worked : you have the same issue.
                              Because the system is identical.

Your efforts were not completely useless : go to the console access and reset to default.
During initial console setup only accept the default (ok to change the password).
                              Now, it works.

Means : download clean fresh copy from https://www.pfsense.org/download/
                              Do not change settings.
                              It works.

This will bring you closer to the final issue : your settings.

Btw : I presume your are not filtered upstream.

I did the upgade to version 2.4.5_1 and I had no problems (unlike the update to version 2.5 which did not work), after this update I see all the additional packages.
                                thanks.
