      Hello everyone,

i'm installing 2.5 version on appliances with J1900 baytrail.

Even if i checked the bios that serial interface is enabled, i enable the serial console in Advanced -> Admin access. (primary console serial), i'm not able to communicate using Putty.

Since i was using usb vga memstick, i have also reinstall using usb serial console memstick. still i'm not able to communicate through serial on that appliance using same cables and putty.

On other appliances is ok, even if i have install the vga usb, after enabling the serial in web-gui is working. using same cable, same serial to usb.

Is there any possibility appliances are faulty ? Or J1900 not supporting ?
I have 2 different appliances with J1900 non of them has a working serial console, while Atom, Intel C and APU appliances are working with same cable, same usb.

Is there anything else to do, before assuming that those appliances serial is not working ? Is there any chance they need different cable ? or different pinout ?

      Thanks for any comments.

        Is it a 9 pin d-sub cable or 8p8c?

Not all 8p8c/RJ-45 style cables have the same pinout.
Some serial ports are configured to require flow control and your cable may not be wired for that. Though once the kernel pfSense/FreeBSD does not require that.

It's nothing to do with the CPU. Ask the manufacturer what settings and pinout to use.

          Thank you Steve.

All the devices are RJ45 port serial interface. i have try with 2 different null modem cables and same Serial to USB. Null modem serial cables 1 is cisco and 1 came with protectli. Both cables are working on the appliances that are working.

Most probably is manufacture issue. I make some search and didn't find any other pinout configuration possible to try. Are you aware of a different pinout maybe work ?

A Cisco pin-out works with almost everything but occasionally you find something weird.
It should work with the supplied cable. Though it's always possible the supplied cable is itself is bad since they are probably untested, at least by the appliance manufacturer.

If your terminal setup works with other devices, especially the same type of device, that seems like a hardware issue.
