      Hello Team,

I am new here and very happy to include any details I may leave out. Just let me know what you need.

I have a clean install of pfSense 2.5.0 on a quotom mini pc.
      I have a cable ISP.
I am using a my own modem.

      Lan 192.168.1.1/24
      Opt1 192.168.99.1/24

I can access the web GUI.

I am getting a wan IP on pfSense. I don’t know what to do now to get internet flowing.

It should work from LAN to Internet by default. If you are on OPT1 then check the firewall rules there to allow from OPT1 to any. (if you want to block from OPT1 to LAN then add that as a block rule above the allow)

Can you ping or access your cable modem?

Is the WAN IP you see a public or private IP?

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.

          Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for the quick response here. This issue has been solved. It was definitely a turn it of and turn it back on again issues. So sorry about that rookie mistake. I just had to reset both the modem and pfSense in the correct order. Once the devices rebooted and everybody got new addresses it all started working correctly.

I am just getting started on this journey. The next step is for me to add a consumer wifi router behind psSense. If you have any tips or links for that let me know. Otherwise, thanks again, and have a great day!
