Upgrade from 2.4.4 to 21.01 wiped storage entirely
-
Last night I tried to upgrade from 2.4.4.
It initially failed due to an error about pkg not matching the kernel version.
Based on one of the posts I changed my release track and upgraded to 2.4.5
That went fine. I then changed my release track again, and upgraded to 21.01
It SEEMED to go fine, but after the upgrade the console was reporting no /boot/loader.conf
and the drive was almost entirely empty (when i booted from a memstick image to attempt a rescue/repair).I reinstalled the community version but is it possible to get back to the Factory/Plus edition?
Is it possible to pull my Netgate Device ID from my config file or look it up from my , since I'm assuming I'll need that?(Yes, I should have written it down, but I did not).

@palesius
Supposedly, the labels with the serial/mac are supposed to have the Netgate Device ID on them as well if it's a device you purchased from netgate, but maybe that's a more recent thing, as mine just has the serial, mac, and model #.This was the case with the labels on both our SG-2440 and our SG-4860-1U. (The file system going AWOL was only an issue on the SG-2440, the SG-4860-1U did have a problem with the upgrade but that was more pedestrian and I was able to resolve it.)

If you contact support at https://go.netgate.com they can look up your info in other ways and get you the installation image for Plus on your Netgate hardware.
