      Hi.
I'm new here but used pFsense a long time. I went back to pFsense after using Mikrotik for a while. Good routers but not so good as firewall. Now I have setup a pFsense firewall on a GateProtect GPO 125 and it works perfectly with Suricata on. But I was fiddling with Backup. I know there is a backup restore tool in Diag menu. I was looking to setup a connection from the firewall to a synology box to do a offsite backup and have that to regularly do that of the config files. But as I read on I found out that to setup a connection I neede Samba. And got the impression that to not install the samba fs support on the firewall. It would be nice if someone had a solution for this or maybe someone gets an idea to make a package that do this to either a share from a windows server or from a synology box.

      Just a suggestion.. :)

Netgate includes a free service they host. We've actually not set that up as we've gotten in the habit of backing up any router we make changes on, so it's usually at our office and/or the client's office. They have another page with alternatives.

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.
