unable to ping new vlan interface IP address
-
Hi All,
I'm new to pfSense and not much of a L3 guy so please forgive me if my question seems obvious, stupid, or long winded...I set up a pfSense appliance as a VM on my ESXi host. I am using it only for routing functionality between port groups on the ESXi host. The pfSense wan interface is on a standard vswitch untagged port group and connects to the physical network 192.168.1.xxx/24 network my home router is running. I configured another pfSense interface with no IP address assigned and attached it to a port group carrying all vlans (vlans 1-4094) on a distributed vswitch. I then set up several vlan sub-interfaces on the pfsense under that interface. I assigned IP addresses of 192.168.2-7.1/24 on each of the pfsense VLAN sub-interfaces. I then configured matching vlan-based port groups on the dvswitch for each of the VLANs being trunked in. I can ping the 192.168.xxx.1 addresses from everywhere I would expect to and everything on them works fine. When I put a VM on any of the tagged vlan dvswich port groups and give it an appropriate IP address I can ping anything on any of the networks and out to the internet. Seems like everything is working perfect so far...
Next, I decided to add another VLAN interface on the pfSense for a 10.0.0.xxx/23 network. I assigned it an IP address of 10.0.01. When I do this I cannot ping the 10.0.0.1 IP address from anywhere on the network. When I added the 192.168/24 interfaces I could ping them as soon as the interface was enabled.
Looking for some help in determining why I cannot seem to ping the 10.0.0.1 IP address from anywhere on the network?
Thanks in advance.

Solved my own problem. Forgot to put additional static routes on my home router for the additional networks.... Silly me...
