pfsense on notebook

Hi, i´m new on this, i´m trying to figure how to set up an screensaver or modifiying the brightnes, i made my firewall with a netbook it has pfsense 2.5 installed, is very usefull to have an integrated display, but heat so much and also is consuming energy.
i hope somebody can help me, i´ve tried many things but i don´t know if i´m doing it well. Thanks

Simply close the lid. The display should shut off. -

It should be controlled by the hardware. There is no sense at all to have the screen on while the lid is closed.Possibly there is an option in the BIOS controlling it.

@viragomann there is no option in the bios to control the display, it seems that the only way to turn it off is unplugging the connector, there is no way to install any screensaver?

Possibly you can install the screensavers from the proper FreeBSD project and activate them: FreeBSD Manual Pages > ScreensaverHowever, non of them will be able to shut off the display. You can use blank screen at best, which will not provide any notable power savings.
As mentioned, shutting off the screen is a hardware feature and usually notebooks do this when closing the lid. Possibly you can get a BIOS upgrade which has this ability.
