5100 crashed
-
Just an informational post. I've spent the weekend chatting with Netgate support and they did all they could to help me but my 5100 is apparently a bricked.
I woke up on Fri morning to a dead machine. I restarted and it ran about 5 hours and croaked. The next restart took maybe 5 minutes (maybe it was due to fsck?). That restart lasted a few hours. In the end I had the same reported issue in posted a few weeks ago by another user, the power light and nothing else.
I have no console output. The only console output I saw in the last 3 days of troubleshooting was a scrolling screen that was Trap 0. Now nothing, it won't even boot a stick with the latest image. Since I don't have the middle light I am unable to determine if there is any boot activity but since there is no console output it does not seem like anything is happening. I did a few stabs at the factory reset, holding the switch in for varying amounts of time.
Monday I'll be buying a new one, after 16 months of solid performance it gasped it's last breath. I'm on my old 2440, glad I kept it :-)
