I was setting up a pfSense test lab under QEMU/KVM. pfSense WAN was an IP on my real LAN, with another IP added as a VIP and the LANs were a mix of private networks and vlans. I setup a Ubuntu server box and forwarded http/s and ssh and started to test. The default Apache web page worked but ssh wouldn't connect. I double-checked everything and it should be working but wasn't. I then tried the web page again and up comes the login to my TP-Link switch. At that moment, palm hit forehead as I realized I just happened to pick an IP to use that was being used by the switch. I had forgotten all about it. I've now moved the switch to a reserved DHCP address.

Sometimes it's the stupid little things that can trip you up for a moment.
