@janiboy The power failure may have caused disk corruption that can't be fixed by a factory reset. Hopefully you have a config.xml backup. I would contact Netgate Support for a copy of the latest install image for you run it and reload it from scratch then restore your config. Even without a support contract they will help you out getting an install image.

          Noop.

          Do this first :

How to Run a pfSense Software File System Check

Actually, do this ones or twice a year and always just before a major update.

You have to tell us first. So we can tell you.
You've access to the console, so if there is any info available, it's a couple of key-presses away.

              The main events :

              cat /var/log/system.log

              The boot events :

              cat /var/log/dmesg.log

              Type :

              ls -alrt /var/log

to see the latest log files at the bottom of the list. These could contain the info you're looking for.

Or reboot the device from console, and have the console boot sequence logged as a file (no images, please please).
              And show the log.

@janiboy The power outage? There are lots of reports over the years from people who ended up with disk corruption after a power loss. UFS file system isn't very resilient in that regard which is why ZFS is now an option.

abrupt power loss and UFS has always been bad mix.. You should be on a ups for sure to prevent such events.

ZFS is better at handling them from my understanding, but would still suggest ups. I recently changed to using zfs in the lastest release of pfsense. But I have personally not tested abruptly removing power ;) And have no plans of doing that either - better to make sure it doesn't happen then to test what happens when it does if you ask me ;)
