      Hello All!

My intent is not to bash products, but to get honest opinion of use as I stretched to afford them and am cannot afford a larger cost ($259.00 ea)

Amazon did a bit of a switch-a-roo on me. I thought I was buying an appliance that was aes-ni, but instead, I received an appliance with the j1900 celeron cpu, 4 gig ram, 16 gig hd.

It appears to run slower than the dell optiplex 390's with pfsense on it and the cpu will not recognize the security of aes-ni.
I do not really need the encryption as I do not plan on using VPN's.

So here is the question....... I think I'm better off running PfSense on old optiplex PC's with duel nic as far as performance if compared to what Amazon sent me.

Are these appliances worth keeping? will they support offices with 1-8 staff as firewall / IDS / pfblocker-ng / etc?

I fought for the funding to get them, thinking I was getting a newer model. If they will last, and handle the traffic, I can suck it in.... But, if consensus is the appliance is outdated and runs like a 3 legged mule, then I'll return them and limp along with old PC's instead.

      Thanks for any imput
