      Hi, everyone. I have been using pfsense for a while now and have noticed something strange about the DHCP leases. I created a static lease for a client and after a few months deleted it. So when trying to use the same IP address with another device, the device does not have access to the internet. What do you think might be wrong?

        @openwifi

        How is the new device getting it's address? Did you create a new static mapping for it?

            So you created a reservation

            192.168.1.100 for mac abc

            Then you deleted that reservation and setup

            192.168.1.100 for mac xyz

            What IP is mac abc now using? Did mac xyz get the 192.168.1.100 reservation?

            What does pfsense show in its arp table for 192.168.1.100?

              @johnpoz Yes right, 192.168.1.100 was set for mac ABC initially but was changed to mac XYZ, mind you mac ABC is deleted after that from the static leases and should never exist. So now the IP 192.168.1.100 is unusable when using it with another MAC address apart from the first one(ABC)

                But did the device with MAC XYZ actually pull that IP?

                And do either of those MACs appear in the ARP table?
