Base vs Max

I am looking at buying the SG-3100 BASE PFSENSE+ SECURITY GATEWAY. 8 GB vs 32 GB. What would be some reasons that I would want to go with the 32 instead of the 8? I'd prefer 32, but if 8 is enough for what I'll be doing, and long-term, I'll stick with it.
Also, is this modifiable/upgradable? -
@droidus well we can't predict the future. But for home user SG-3100 is more than enough. It's true that SG-3100 is an old HW but you can make it run faster by upgrading m2 ssh.

@akegec Is there something newer that you could recommend? Which model do you recommend, in general, for a home user?

I recently bought a Qotom mini PC as described in my sig. It provides far more performance than is needed with a 500/20 Internet connection. It also provides the AES-NI instructions for VPN use. The CPU barely hits 5% when running speedtest through it.
BTW, here's a recent speedtest result.

@droidus if you are using for business network then I suggest to buy Netgate products. But for home user and in this Covid situation, just buy mini PC (min spec. i5 or ryzen5 with 4g memory) with dual nic.
Tip, don't run your main pfsense on virtual machine. Security is a problem with hypervisor.
