Netgate SG-2440 died suddenly
-
I was trying to connect to the web interface of my pfSense firewall this weekend and the connection was extremely slow getting to the login screen. I refreshed the browser window and the connection timed out and all internet service for our house went out. I have connected a console cable to it and get no output and the firewall just shuts down after running for a brief period of time (less than 5 minutes). The activity indicators on the ethernet ports light up while it is on and the status light is red before it shuts down, but otherwise the device is totally unresponsive. Is it normal for these to have a relatively short life? I have much older network appliances and PC hardware that is still running fine. I can't find my receipt for when I purchased it and my email/password that I used doesn't work to log in to find if I have any support/warranty options. I've seen a few other posts referencing a hardware bug, how do I know if that is the cause?

@cudgel Reach out to Netgate support. This is a known issue with some hardware in 2440. I've had two boxes replaced by Netgate under warranty, albeit this was 2-3 years ago. YMMV.
