I am running the new release of pFsense 21.05 but not sure if this was an issue on the last versions. I am trying to do a static mapping from the DHCP lease page, and all i added was a description on the page, saved and received this message "A valid hostname is specified, but the domain name part should be omitted". I did not add a domain name after the IP address I wanted to be offered, and I even made sure there were no blank lines in the text box.

A picture would be worth 1000 words as they say..

Running 21.05 and pretty much ever single device on my network uses a reservation. I have no problems..

Just edited one of mine an added a description.

@johnpoz Thanks, I see what I was doing wrong. When I clicked on the plus sign to create a static mapping the default hostname carried forward was the IP for the current device. I just assumed that everything filled in was good to go. Thanks again.
