SG1100 serial port BSOD, Prolific says not genuine

Connected my Windows 10 laptop to SG1100 micro USB port. Putty blue-screens Windows. Thought it might be the Prolific driver, so downloaded PL23XX_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v206 from Prolific site. Utility in Prolific package says chip is not genuine.
Was able to keep windows from crashing by running Putty as admin.
Is that a genuine Prolific serial to USB on SG1100?

The current driver listed is v204. I would try that.
