Watchdog timer GUI support
-
I'm running pfSense on a Supermicro X11SCL-IF. This board has a watchdog jumper, and a timer can be enabled in the BIOS setup. (Right now, the jumper is configured to send a non-maskable interrupt, as opposed to resetting the system.)
Is this watchdog timer supported by pfSense through the GUI? I don't see that as an option on my system.
Thanks!

You will only see that option on systems that have a watchdog device known to work.
You may be able to load it manually using the right kernel module. Probably either wbwd or icgwd.

Understood. The reason I ask is that I've been getting lockups of my pfSense system after about ten days of uptime or so that requires a manual reset.

I don't think it's pfSense. A lockup just happened again, and has something to do with the external power situation. Time for a UPS.

I'm trying to get the watchdog working again. I tried:
kldload ichwd kldload: can't load ichwd: No such file or directory
It doesn't look like the necessary kernel module is located in /boot/kernel. How would I go about loading the module? Is this something I need to compile myself?
Thanks!

I would first try copying it from FreeBSD 12.2. A lot of modules will load like that.
