Left 3 inches of my screen is not viewable in console
-
I guess this belongs in hardware.
For some reason, when I'm on the console directly on my pfSense server (so, not SSH'ed into it) the left 3 inches of my screen is not viewable. Not sure why. It is as if someone laid a black cloth over the left 3 inches of my monitor. As a result, every line of output to the screen is cut off on the left side.
I've tried playing around with changing resolution and while the resolution does change, the left 3 inches of my screen is still black and the text is cut off. The only thing that changes is how much the text is cut off. Higher the resolution, the smaller the text appears, so more gets cut off.
Hitting ESC when the boot menu appears and then looking at the set resolution of my console (gop get) I see I'm using 1024x768. My monitor is a 4k monitor, so that resolution is a cake walk.
Anyone got any ideas where I should look to debug and correct this?
Thank you,

I assume you see the full output from the BIOS setup for example?
When exactly does it fail to this during the boot?

@stephenw10 yeah. Everything looks normal until after I make a selection in the bootloader. Once that happens and the O/S actually starts to load, left three inches if the screen goes black.

Does it do that on a different monitor?
I have seen things try to drive 4K and fail. But they usually just show nothing in that case.
