I've got two broadband connections (one 8mbit ADSL and the other a 24mbit ADSL2+ line), one with a block of 64 public IPs, the other with one dynamic IP.
Can I combine these two connections to share load? I only really need this capability when connecting to usenet or torrents, if that makes a difference.

Also, with regards to the IP addresses, could I map those each to private IP address?

If pfSense can't do this, is there a router that can? Thanks very much for any replies!

pfSense is able to do what you describe above.

However be aware that the loadbalancer is connection based and doesnt actually sum up the bandwith.

We do what we must, because we can.

Thanks for the quick response :) encouraging to see the forum is buzzing - I stumbled upon a link to pfsense earlier in a review of the new Linksys WRT160NL, I've got some spare machines lying around, and I'm very dissatisfied with my routers. Had been considering investing in something high-end, designed for SME, but I don't really know what I need.

should help you to find adequate hardware for your needs.
Just two lines with a total ~30Mbit shouldnt require too much of hardware.
An ALIX would be probably enough: http://pcengines.ch/alix.htm
