GRE Tunnel not working

So I have a carrier that is announcing our /24 IP block for us in a data center since our isp is terrible

They have told us, that is giving us a static route over the GRE tunnel.

Now I never did GRE tunnels, but I figured out how to set one up

But I am facing issues

I tried putting 123.x.x.0/24 as our static route facing the GRE tunnel and got nothing

I tried virtual IP to the GRE tunnel and I get is a

The interface chosen for the VIP has no IPv4 or IPv6 address configured so it cannot be used as a parent for the VIP.

tried facing a vlan to the GRE no internet either, including making a static route

Anyone can help figure out I am doing wrong? I am being stupid and it something easy that anyone can do!
