Re: Upgrade to 2.5.2 php errors reported

Upgrading from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 has been absolute hell; it crashed my whole system due to PHP crashing and messing up all my aliases to the point where I couldn’t change my firewall rules.

I had to do a reset followed by a clean install of 2.5.2 which created a whole new problem for me with my UniFi APs. Because of PHP issues, my vlan dhcp server is assigning out 169 address space to every device connected to my AP and resulting in no connectivity.

My only workaround is to statically assign IPs on the DHCP server and then manually configuring them on my devices. I’ve used pfsense for almost 7 years and this is the first time I’ve experienced something like this.

Whatever you guys did with 2.5.2 messed things up please listen to the people reporting these problems on here and not automatically shut them down because this is a huge mess up on your part; I’m at a point where I’m about to find an alternative which I hate to do but I need stability!!!

You haven't offered any details about what was crashing, error messages, logs, etc.

Your errors may not be the same as others.

A few people hit similar-looking problems but we haven't been able to replicate anything of the sort here in our extensive testing.

A clean install wouldn't have the same problems as an upgrade, and there aren't any known "PHP issues" with 2.5.2 that would affect DHCP.

If your devices are getting 169.254.x.x addresses then they aren't getting DHCP responses from the firewall. Either the service isn't running or it's not on the same L2 (perhaps your assignments changed order).

But to help with any of that we need a lot more information than "it's broken".

@jimp I wasn't asking for help because I didn't collect logs or take screenshots of the errors. I work in support so I know how the game goes especially with no logs; I was just pointing out that weird thinks have been happening in the last few releases that did not happen before like this PHP error that made my filter rules with aliases disappear and so that I could not edit any filter rules at all.

Not sure how or why a factory would resolve the issue; regarding DHCP, Unifi is to blame here as they had several DHCP issues when the DHCP server used was non UDM..I'd hold off from upgrading any AP's until at-least the next release comes out.

Now that I've signed up for the forums I'll be sure to collect screenshots ands logs to document any issues I experience..sorry I didnt think to do so this time.
