I have a Netgate 3100 running 2.4.2-RELEASE-p1 and it's been working flawless for a few years. I've recently experienced an issue where the LAN interface stops routing any traffic.

      Symptoms

      • I can VPN to the device
      • I can access the internet while connected over the VPN
      • All of the devices connected to the LAN interface no longer have network connectivity.
      • Nothing unusual in logs, everything seems fine.
      • LAN traffic graph starts showing only OUT traffic and shows no IN traffic
      • If I reboot the device, things work for a short period of time (5-30 mins) and then the LAN stops routing traffic again.
      • Sometimes it starts working again without me doing anything.

Anyone have a similar issue or suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

Looks like upgrading to 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 might have resolved the issue.

Mmm, 2.4.2p1 is really old. With the release of 21.05.1 though there should be much reason not to be on that now.
If you absolutely need Snort (and can't use Suricata) for some reason you might want to stay on 2.4.5p1.
