I'm not sure how this may have happened, but I don't see the other interfaces available for assignment in the WebGUI. I have 2 WAN and 4 LAN ports on my device, but I only see one LAN port available. I have a Windows computer plugged in to the second LAN port that I'd like to use.

I see that it mentions that the lagg(4) interfaces would not be shown, but I am not sure what those are and I feel like the physical interfaces should appear on this list.

Would this be an issue with my device or the software? If not, what should I do to enable the ports?

@trevorftard The LAN ports are all on a switch on a 2100 but you can use VLANs to make them discrete ports.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@steveits I used that exact link to configure an extra LAN segment, worked just fine.

@steveits Unfortunately, I'm only seeing those same two interfaces in the VLANs menu. I have two additional interfaces that pfSense doesn't appear to be acknowledging.

@trevorftard Not sure we're on the same page yet, or I'm misunderstanding. A 2100 has a switch for all four LAN ports so they are not separate interfaces. If you want one to behave like a separate interface, you need to create a VLAN on it...the example is to use port 4 and make it a separate port.

              Edit:
WAN - [pfSense] - LAN (switch) - switch ports 1-4

@steveits Oh! I think I understand now. I didn't realize they appear as a single interface. I'm used to my custom pfSense box I used previously that had all NICs appear as their own interfaces.

My goal is to essentially use the extra ports for the another desktop. I have a cable plugged in, but the light on the pfSense appliance isn't blinking for that port, whereas it is on the desktop, so I figured something needed to be enabled/configured in pfSsense. I don't need the ports to function on separate VLANs.

@trevorftard It should just work, I've plugged multiple cables in to a 2100. Try another cable? Or plug that device into the ISP router temporarily just to test?

You can plug in a switch between the pfSense and a PC for testing but it isn't necessary.

@steveits I agree. Default config for the 2100 is all the LAN ports (on the switch) are "the same" like a $5 switch you get from Walmart.
If you don't even get link led from the other ports (LAN2-4) check the cable is the first thing I'd do.
Heck if you have that $5 switch handy plug lan2-4 into a port on the switch (one at a time so you don't create a network loop) you should at least get link led.

@SteveITS @mer Thanks for clarifying. I thought it was weird that the light was only blinking for the desktop's NIC, but not the pfSense appliance. I'll try another cable later when I'm able to test. I appreciate your help!

@trevorftard Look at Interfaces > Switches > Ports
