We swapped to Netgate firewalls on one of our customers and we can't get ArcServe to replicate backups to the offsite repository. We tried set Forwalls on LAN and IPSEC to allow all, temporarily, but that doesn't make a difference. I've reduced overhead on the VPN, just to test. I can use DNS, Active Directory, copy large amounts of data across the VPN without interruption but ArcServeUDP gets a ways in, actually tranferring data, then claims it can't communicate with the offsite server. I've had pings and other communication running at the same time between the two servers and never so much as dropped a packet. We've engaged ArcServe and have made no headway with the problem but I'm pretty sure this issue lies in the firewall.

Any ideas/suggestions? I'm going to do some packet capture but it's going to be significant because it takes a bit for it to decide it can't talk.
