Is there a power off /on button on SG 2100 ?
-
Hi all,
Before I purchase the SG 2100, I would like to know if there is
a physical power off/on button on that device ?As you see I normally power off the ISP router and my DLink firewall when I go to sleep. So is there a button for this purpose?
And from the pictures, I saw none. Also, I need to know if the Pfsense GUI has a shutdown button so that I can power off the SG 2100 when its bedtime.
appreciate any help & thanks

@tim-lakinir No physical power button on the 2100. In software, the web interface under Diagnostics there is Halt System.
That will do the equivalent of "shutdown -h now"
The 2100 does not support "shutdown -p now" to actually "shutdown and power off" so you would need to have the console hooked up to see that it shutdown correctly before you physically unplug it. -
No, there is no physical power button on the 2100. Neither is there a shutdown/standby button.
Because it is ARM based it doesn't have the same standby power levels and ACPI buttons that you might find on an x86 device.

Thanks to both of you, now to halt the system you would need a console cable.
Can a cross Cat 5 cable be used as a console cable ?Or does Netgate provide this console cable when we purchase
SG 2100 ?This is because I haven't purchase or use a SG 2100 or pfsense before.

@tim-lakinir The Netgate 2100 console cable is Mini-USB, not RJ-45.
You can halt the system via the WebGUI, via SSH or directly via the console cable. The excellent manual explains all this.

Yup it's mini-USB, it's supplied with the firewall and it's a standard cable. You probably already have a cable you could use.

Many Thanks to all of you
Good to know that there is a manual where I can search for stuff -
You can also review the 2100 docs: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/netgate-2100/index.html
