I have 2.5.2 with R7900P router in AP mode (Japan wifi), works well. With PPPoE Japan service I go from modem to tp108 switch on port 1 and pfsense on port 3 and wrt3200 (vpn)(USA wifi) on port 5. Works OK but would like to remove tp108 switch. Not sure if Japan PPPoE will continue to allow both wrt3200 (192.168.132.1) and pfsense (192.168.20.1) on same modem. Installed expressvpn on pfsense but was not happy with everything on vpn and speed was slower than the configuration I have now. Ideas how to remove tp108 and move wrt3200 vpn router to pfsense? I have pfsense wan on igb0 (PPPoE) and lan on igb1, I also have opt1 on re0 (updated driver installed).
Thank you for any ideas, I am very short on pfsense knowledge.

This seems like the same thing you were asking here: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/166984/two-wifi-on-one-service

I have the same questions. I do not expect two devices to work with one PPPoE 'modem' so it's likely the wrt3200 is connecting through pfSense. Do you have VLANs configured there?

        Can we see a diagram?

After reading my prior post I could not understand exactly what I was asking. I have a very small pfsense system, pppoe, with user and password, pfsense box (2.5.2) with lan connected to gs716tv3 switch (no vlans) with pc and ap wifi connected to gs716tv3 switch. I have wrt3200acm router with expressvpn firmware that connects directly with pppoe provider for USA wifi. The modem (pppoe provided) and both pfsense (192.168.20.1) and wrt3200 (192.168.132.1) are connected to tp108 switch (dumb switch) that allows pfsense and wrt3200 to 'share' connection.
After buying several pfsense configure books, I have found that the writers only think AP is the correct way to connect wifi. My Japan wifi is configured as AP. My wrt3200 will not connect to expressvpn in USA in AP mode (no fixed ip). I am trying to use the pfsense pppoe connection as the wrt3200 connection. The pfsense box has igb0 and igb1 as wan and lan and re0 as not used.
Before I built the pfsense box, I connected my AP router, nighthawk r7900p in router mode, to the pppoe modem and the wrt3200 to the nighthawk with lan to wan connection. This gave both Japan wifi and USA wifi. I wanted better security, so I changed to pfsense box. I tried running expressvpn installed in pfsense, but everything ran very slow, all data going from Japan to SF and back. (expressvpn instructions for pfsense are not very good and do not have full steps, at least in my case)
Sorry for the long reply. Any and all help or ideas are most helpfull. elmo

@elmo1943 said in vpn router on 2.5.2 pfsense:

The modem (pppoe provided) and both pfsense (192.168.20.1) and wrt3200 (192.168.132.1) are connected to tp108 switch (dumb switch) that allows pfsense and wrt3200 to 'share' connection.

Ok those are different subnets (probably) so are those the LAN side subnets of each device?

What is the pfSense WAN IP address?
What is the WRT3200 WAN IP address?

I expect those to be in the same subnet and it will be a private subnet because I do not expect your ISP to allow 2 PPPoE connections.

            Can we see a diagram?
