I am looking for the best way to do a parental rule in pfsense. I have ordered a tp-link deco x20 mesh for wifi and a netgate 2100 for the firewall. the deco x20 because of the easy of setup and parental controls. What did not cross my mind was, do i lose features in AP mode only. the answer is yes, the parental control, for me the primary reason for buying the Deco X20, other than updating my wifi and hopefully better coverage. With all that said, is there a way to create a group, add mac address to that group then apply time allowances on that group? a bonus feature would be being able to disable that group very easily. Unless anyone here thinks that TP-Link Deco X20 can do firewalling as well as the netgate 2100, this is my dilemma

@caeedil If you don't need wired to talk to wireless then you can use the TP-Link in router mode and use its parental controls. Traffic will be double NATted of course.

pfSense does have time based rules.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@steveits thank you for the reply, I had thought about setting it up with the double nat, its how my current system is, mostly because i was being lazy. I am getting ready to buy some security cameras and was thinking it would be wise to create an IOT ssid and segregate it off with vlans and I am not sure that would work very well with a double nat type setup.
