After system upgrade: system not functional
-
I have an SG-3100. I updated it from 21.05 to 21.05.02 and after the update, the device has not been functional. I don't believe it is a brick. I ended up saving a copy of the config prior to upgrading at least. I consoled into the device and noticed with netstat nothing was listening on ports 80,443, or 22 for starters. This could be the reason why I cannot reach the web GUI. I connected a laptop directly up to LAN1 and was able to ping the device and vice-versa, but again of course could not reach any of the services. It seems as if I may need to re-image the device. I wanted to see if this would be the general consensus here. Then, if that is the case, what are my options in doing so? Can this be done by throwing an image on a thumb drive or do I need an MMC card? Which, hopefully its not the latter since I don't have an MMC device to image one. Is there a backup image on the device I can utilize even?
Fairly knew to this appliance unfortunately.

@clazmania https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-3100/reinstall-pfsense.html. The ticket is free.
If you are at the console can you start the web GUI from the menu or did that not work?
edit: FWIW we have several of these ourselves and at various clients and not had a problem updating. The only time I have run into trouble was years ago when the router was booted during an update. I know the web page says "90 seconds" or some such but you need to allow 10+ minutes for an upgrade.

@steveits Thank you for the reply. I tried that and no dice. This was the 3rd time i had updated it and the only time I had issues. I dont have a router. This is my edge device, Cox communications allows for this to act as my "router". After it rebooted, i would have the two outer LED flash blue and the center flash like a purple/red... they would oscillate between each other.

@clazmania Well, the ultimate fix was to re-image and restore the config...problem solved. Just in case anyone else has a similar issue.
