KVM logout woes
-
Hi
1-When switching screen in my KVM, Pfsense logs me out. Is there a way to stop this?
2-Also my KVM keeps on printing its activity on screen. Quite noisy. Any way to get rid of this?
Thanks!

thanks for your reply @viragomann.
1-I have 2 computers connected to my KVM. When I switch screen on the KVM. I get logged out.
This is my KVM: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09GNKMPYR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=12-Seems the KVM likes to connect/disconnect all the time? Not sure. I'll do hardware tests, but for now I wonder if these USB connections could be filtered from the logs?

@wastapi
Ahhh, you're talking about a KVM switch. I was talking about a hypervisor. I will delete my above posting, it doesn't contribute here.Did you already try to connect pfSense to another port using another cable set? Also try another USB port on the pfSense hardware.
It behaves quite strange.Regarding to the logouts, this might not be a usual behavior as well. In the past I had pfSense connected to a quite old Belkin KVM, but I did never experience this issue.

@wastapi It seems that the behavior is normal as you're removing resources pfSense once had, and the FreeBSD portion is complaining...just like removing or switching screen and you'll need to log in again (for your protection).

@nollipfsense
The other hosts don’t log me out. Only pfsense. -

@nollipfsense
Exactly. Never asked to deal with the other host. The other hosts behave as expected.I don’t want pfsense to log me out just because I switch my screen cable via kvm.

@wastapi You seem to forget it's a firewall...I don't know what else to say.

For the KVM switch to not cause what you are seeing it must continue to emulate the KVM when switched to other clients. You likely have a KVM switch that does not emulate the KVM, when you switch the KVM to another host the KVM simply goes away causing FreeBSD to see the hot plug event.
If you want to test this theory unplug and re-plug the KVM from pfSense with it selected and see if you see the same behavior.
