Has anyone tried this NIC with pfsense?
-
i bought this for an old HP server i was trying to bring back to life. gave up on it since HP makes you jump through hoops to get any firmware for it from them.
was gonna try to plug it into my pfsense and use it for my NIC in there, but not sure if its compatible.
what do you guys think?

If the chipset of the card is supported here: https://www.freebsd.org/releases/12.2R/hardware/
then it will work on pfsense 2.5.2Regards,

More info needed. I would probably just install it and see if it's recognised. And if it isn't grab the PCI IDs.
Looks like it might be Mellenox Connect-X 3? In which case possibly the mlx driver.
I have tested older cards that used it and whilst it did work it was not completely stable. In my test box at least.

@stephenw10 it uses QLogic 57810S chipset

Are you sure? The newegg link above suggests Mellanox.
If so it might be supported by the bxe(4) driver.
Connecting it and getting the PCI IDs would give us much more to go on.

Ah OK! Well still try it and see pretty much if you have the NIC already.
