Chromecast not working, nothing blocked in log
-
Hello,
I have a Marshall Woburn wifi speaker with chromecast. It connects to the network through an AP (TPLink EAP225).
When it is connected to my ISP's router, it works.
When it is connected to PFSense, my PC can't seem to find it even when they are in the same subnet.
The WLAN is not client isolated and I can ping the device.
Any ideas?Thanks

Hi,
What is the pfSense LAN IP ?
Mask ?
What is the IP of the "Marshall Woburn wifi speaker" ?
Did it obtain an IP using its DHCP client or did you assign a static the IP (and mask and gateway and DNS ?)If the "Wifi AP" is as it should be : a transparent 'bridge' that converts wired LAN network traffic to radio and back, than any device on a LAN type interface can communicate with each other - they don't use or need pfSense for that.

That is : Internet <=> Your ISP router <=> pfSense <=> [ your local LAN with PC, pseaker, AP etc etc)
Don't use the ISP router wifi if you want to use devices 'behind' pfSEnse.. -
@gertjan Tahnk you for your reply.
It works when: internet <=> ISP Router <=> PC: LAN and speaker WiFi through AP (same subnet)
It doesn't work when: internet <=> ISP router <=> PFSense <=> PC:LAN and speaker WiFi through same AP (same subnet).
PFSense LAN IP: 2.10.0.1/24
PC IP: 2.10.0.50 (DHCP)
Speaker IP: 2.10.0.51 (DHCP)
AP has the same settings as it has on ISP network. -

Isn't the AP a "member device" on the LAN, using a 2.10.0.x/24 - (and DNS + gateway point tio the pfSEnse LAN IP) ?

PFSense LAN IP: 2.10.0.1/24
Your not using RFC1918 .....We all use RFC 1918 aka 192.168.1.0/24 etc.
Or are you trying to hide the IP's ?If you really use 2.10.0.1/24 then stop doing so now. You are trying to break the Internet. Don't.

Yeah you shouldn't be using public space internally, unless its your space.. That space is the French telecom "orange"
If your devices are connected to the same wifi network and same AP.. pfsense has nothing to do with them talking to each other. And nothing to do with their discovery of each other through some L2 protocol. Discovery of chromecast https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/discovery
