Is there any reason these days why someone might be holding back on upgrading from 2.4.5-p1(amd64) to 2.5.2? apart from lethargy or just time poor.

@brucexling The reason I still have versions on old 2.4.4p3 is covid. Office has been cleared out, nobody there. Not worth risk of updating - even on the off chance that something went wrong. There a few people in and out of the office, but they wouldn't be able to be smart hands, etc.

So I had to put off updating, I was able to get to the office today and finally updated to 2.5.2 - had some issues with it not seeing 21.05.2, and only seeing 21.02.

Played with it for a bit, even tried to just do a update to 21.02, and then figured could go to 21.05.2 - but it would just sit there.. So since I didn't want to be there longer than I had too. My day off actually.. So I just did a clean install, smooth as silk - restored my back - bobs your uncle.

Normally I would agree with you, lazy, don't know there is an update, etc.. But with the world the way it is currently - I can for sure see why people are behind updating.

The other branch offices - think we are just going to ship a replacement we have that is current, and they can just plug in the new one and ship back the outdated one.

@brucexling One open issue with 2.5/21.05 is the pcscd memory leak. There is a patch to disable it since it is rarely used.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

There are several IPsec problems in 2.5.2 that may or may not affect things as well. It varies from user to user depending on their tunnels/settings.

The next release is not far off, at this point you may want to wait for 2.6.0. That also means you don't get into updating things before holidays/vacations.

That’s good feedback, thanks guys. I see nothing now to discourage me from upgrading to 2.5.2. Even the prospect of 2.6.0 perversely steers me towards 2.5.2. I don’t really want to be two generations behind, but I am always nervous of dot zero releases.
