2021 Annual pfSense Survey
-
Hello all, Andrew here.
With the year coming to a close it's time for the 2021 pfSense user survey!
We'd love to hear from you all. The better we understand you, your pfSense usage, and your needs, the easier it becomes for us to improve pfSense software in the future. If you provide your feedback with this 10-minute survey you'll be entered into four separate drawings for $75 Amazon Gift Cards. If you are somehow the luckiest person on planet earth you could potentially win $300 to spend on Amazon!
The survey will run from today (December 30th) through Wednesday, January 12th 2022. There will be two winners each week for two of the four gift cards. That means the earlier you take the survey the more chances you have to win.
You can take the survey here!
Thank you all for a wonderful 2021. We really do love our community. You all do a great job helping one another in here. We'd really appreciate your help with this survey.
Happy New Year from me and everyone here at Netgate.
Cheers,
Andrew -

Hello Andrew,
I notice the initial form for the survey collects name & email address and then the survey collects name & email address too.
My primary contact information (netgate store account) I provide with consent of the netgate privacy policy at the start of the survey (the first request for contact information).
I'm inclined to provide momentive/surveymonkey different name & email information due to their privacy policy.
My question(s) are:
Which name & email submission is used for the drawing?
Would providing different information sabotage an entry for the drawing?
The gist of my concern is that I prefer to know when/where my personal information is going to bleed into the internet based on choices such as this survey.
It's not clear to me which name request would be published in the netgate newsletter.

Hey Smokey, these are great questions.

We will be using the emails that are put into the survey fields directly for contact and drawings
-
It does not matter which email you submit. They don't necessarily have to match, although we prefer if they do. In terms of it potentially sabotaging your drawing chances, it won't. As long as you are not submitting the survey multiple times with different emails we don't have a preference of which email you use as long as it is valid and can receive emails.
I totally understand your concerns. We plan to use the information provided within the survey directly to contact and announce winners. That being said, we will be in contact with you, or anyone else who wins, after we draw names. That will take place long before the January Newsletter so you, or anyone else, can let us know what level of publicity you are comfortable with. We tend to go the route of first name last initial (e.g. Smokey B.).
I hope this has clarified things for you.
Happy New Year,
Andrew -
