My DNS resolver was killed because pfsense ran out of swap space. This happened to me 3 months ago. I disabled the pcscd service at that time. I am running version 21.05.2 and my uptime is 29 days.

Any ideas as to what could be the issue this time around?

@ajkelsey Diagnostics/System Activity will show you the process list.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

What would I be looking for in the process list?

Since there is no SWAP on the 1100 that is actually telling you it's out of memory.

Look for processes using a low of RAM in the list.
Check the memory usage on the dashboard.
