I live in a rural area with few options for internet. And am basically stuck with Verizon if looking for a 4G internet provider which is expensive regardless of the plan. I have been looking for a cheap backup internet option when a coworker found KeepGo. Looks like it would use ATT or TMobile. But basically this looks like the cheapest way I could find a backup internet option.

Had anyone ever used them or gotten it to work with pfsense as a backup wan? If so what is your experience with them?

I have been using tello (6$ per month) and a netgear LM1200 as backup. It works but KeepGo looks like a better deal. Thanks for the tip.

Update: Not sure if this effects you but KeepGo APN settings show IPv4 only connections. I can have outgoing IPv6 with tello. It is behind CGNAT so no incoming ports on Tello (t-mobile back end).

Update #2: KeepGo seems a worse deal. 150 for 10G, Tello charges 72 dollars for 12Gb over 12m.

Okay thanks for the update, it sounds like your doing something similar and it works. I wouldn't want a ton of data. Just enough for basic browsing when primary is out. Wouldn't do any streaming, so a few gb would go a long way. I just didn't want a monthly fee, I am okay with something that provides data for a year for cheap.

And a really dumb basic question, does the LM1200 require a crossover cable if going into an Intel nic in a HP T620 plus, or will it work with a regular Ethernet cable.

There really shouldn't be any device in the last 10+, if not closer to 20 years that requires a crossover cable.. Anything that is a gig interface for sure will autocross.. Since it is part of the standard. So even if the plug in say an old 100 interface into gig - as long one side is a gig interface your good.

What @johnpoz says is correct, as usual. I did have to get some mimo antennas to make it actually work. The antenna ports were non standard and need some adapters.
