      Hi,

      I seem to have upset my never before this connected Netgate2100... It started with it not getting a DHCP, which works for just about anything else on that port/cable, so strange in itself. After googling I checked the DHCP log which shows it is trying but get no response.

      I then checked the System/General log and found something I didn't like;

      sshguard <pid> Attack from "192.168.1.10" on service unknown service with danger 10.

      Right before this I had mistyped the password while logging in, could that have triggered the response? As it did never get an IP, this should be me, or how should I interpret this?

      Thanks

        @furom I think I found the most sensible answer to the sshguard log, that I mistyped my login a few times. But why I am not getting a WAN address is still a mystery. I did set the MAC to all zeroes when running the setup wizard, perhaps not a great idea?

          @furom said in Netgate2100 not getting WAN:

          MAC to all zeroes

          That does seem likely. You could try emptying the WAN interface MAX field. Or if it's new try Diagnostics/Factory Defaults.

          And yes I think you're right about the SSH entry.

          Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
          When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

            @steveits Yeah, I'll clear the field and see if that makes a difference. And thanks for confirming my thoughts on the SSHguard. :)
